Harvest is in full swing here, and the wheat is looking better than it has in several years! We are counting our blessings and praying for safety, no breakdowns, and a continued bountiful crop. Although harvest is going great, this has been our craziest June we’ve had, and we aren’t even halfway through!
We have had an exciting announcement that Henderson baby #3 will be joining us this year, and we are so excited to not find out the baby’s sex this go ’round. Normal pregnancy sickness has made things a little more interesting trying to get everything done and keep up with two toddlers, but I’m slowly getting my energy back day by day!
We started cutting Tuesday evening and me and Porter took the job of running the grain cart! Seriously, baby wearing has made my life so much easier.
We aren’t exactly sure what I did, but climbing in the tractor or jumping over a fence did something to my knee that has had me down for the count as far as harvest is concerened. It doesn’t hurt to walk, but bending my knee at all is out of the question. I’ll see a surgeon tomorrow to see what the game plan is from here.
I was feeling pretty down about not being able to be in the field for harvest, and I was letting myself slide down a slippery path of self pity. But since I’ve been hurt, I’ve been constantly surrounded by the love, care, and servanthood of amazing family and friends.
My fridge has been filled with food, I’ve barely had to cook a meal, I’ve had help with the kids, and my mom has been my saving grace doing everything from delivering meals to cleaning my house. Feeling sorry for myself because I had a little setback I failed to see all the blessings being poured on my family and I.
So I am going to enjoy the rest of this busy season, and take this as a another chance to be thankful!
