Farm wives are crafty. I think that’s why we are so capable of getting stuff accomplished without our husbands. Like my awesome friend Katie who is #movingtothecountrykinda. She knows the struggle all too well of being a farm wife too. So when our husbands are out working away in the fields, we team up.

I bet Lowes was ready to get rid of us yesterday. We are visual learners, and both indecisive. So 3 hours later and a suburban packed full, we headed home with cabinets, tile, paint, grout, lights, stain, backer board (I know what that is now), doorknobs, outlet covers, Doritos, chewy sweet tarts, and Pepsi.

That sounds easy enough, right? It would have been if we wouldn’t have had to strap down a lazy Susan to the top of the vehicle.

You know those times where you laugh so hard you can’t even function? That happened yesterday on the busiest road in Wichita during rush hour traffic. Right about the time that Katie had to crawl out the window and I out the sunroof.

You see, the super helpful guy that loaded everything decided to strap the giant cylinder of a lazy Susan standing up. Because that’s aerodynamically correct. Hey, he was the expert though so we didn’t argue. Until it came unstrapped in the middle lane of Kellogg. I could tell it was bad from Katie’s voice. She calmly but urgently said “Verrrry slowly pull over”. Then she gasped every time I touched the brakes as she watched it rock on top of the car.

We got that puppy strapped back down ourselves and made it home with no more problems. It was such a nice break to get away for a few hours and laugh and brainstorm. Days like yesterday are good for my soul.
