We have had an amazing weekend as we welcomed our sweet baby on Saturday afternoon. I will write the birth story, but for now I’ll just give the short story for those who don’t want all of the details. 😉
After a quiet Saturday morning at home snuggling with my boys, I got up to walk into the kitchen at 1 pm when my water broke. I called Jake and he hurried home to get us. The contractions started strong and fast and my best friend met us at the house. She was originally going to take the boys, but we decided with as fast as things were going she better just ride with us.
Jake got to play NASCAR driver and got us to Wichita in record time. We had to pull over at one point because baby was coming so fast, but they decided that Jake could get us to the hospital faster than an ambulance could get to us.
We did a sliding stop into the ER parking lot and Katie ran inside to get a nurse. They got me in the ER doors at 1:55 and the baby was born in the hallway at 1:55. With how fast everything went I forgot for a second to ask if the baby was a boy or a girl! The baby let out two little cries and Jake yelled that baby was a GIRL! I had been expecting another boy, so out of shock I argued with him. 😉 After getting a look of my own, I believed she was really a girl.
We got to a room and got baby looked over and determined for only being 36.5 weeks she was healthy and doing great! She weighed 7lbs 5 oz and was 18.25 inches long. She has a good amount of reddish hair and is an absolute doll! We are all doing amazing after 30 hours of having no name we decided on Finley Ann. Her big brothers love her and we can’t wait to get home and get settled.
